Custom Fields
Custom fields let you add extra information to your customer profiles that isn't included in the standard fields like name, email, and phone number. This helps you collect and manage details that are specific to your business.
Why Use Custom Fields?
Every business is different, and custom fields allow you to tailor Nnipa CRM to fit your unique needs. For example, if you're a real estate agent, you might want to collect information about a customer's property preferences. If you're a retailer, you might want to track customer loyalty program details. Custom fields give you the flexibility to do this.
Supported Custom Field Types
You can create custom fields in various formats, including:
- Text (short text)
- Long text
- Number
- Email
- Phone number
- URL
- Date
Creating a Custom Field
To create a custom field, follow these steps:
- Go to the Custom Fields module.
- Click on the "New Custom Field" button.
- In the modal that pops up, enter a name for the custom field and an optional description.
- Click on the "Add a Field" button to add fields to the custom field.
- In the context modal, enter:
- Field label
- Unique ID
- Field type (e.g., text, number)
- Default value
- Toggle the switch to make the field required or not
- Click the "Add Field" button to add the field.
- You can repeat step 4-6 to add more fields as needed.
Adding Custom Fields to Contacts
You can add custom fields to contacts in two ways:
Adding Custom Fields to a New Contact
When creating a new contact:
- Go to the Customers module and click on the "New Contact" button under the Contacts tab.
- Toggle the "More Fields" switch on to see all fields.
- Enter the information for the new contact.
- Under the "Custom Field" select input, select the custom field to be added to this contact.
- Click the "Save Contact" button.
Adding Custom Fields to an Existing Contact
To add custom fields to an existing contact:
- Go to the Customers module and find the contact you want to add custom fields to under the Contacts tab.
- Click on the three dots (menu icon) next to the contact.
- From the menu options, click on "Change Custom Field".
- Select the custom field you want to change it to from the menu.
- Note that every contact is assigned to a "default" custom field by default when created.
- Click the "Change" button.
Using Custom Fields
Once you've created and added custom fields to contacts, you can view the fields and their values in the contact details. This allows you to collect and manage extra information about your customers that is specific to your business needs.
